St Clare`s hit a dozen past Kinsale CS

St Clare`s  12-10   Kinsale CS   4-11

Kinsale CS find 6 goal Muireann Devaney too hot to handle as St Clares outgun Kinsale in the Lidl PPS senior C All Ireland semi final in Ballinasloe.

Kinsale got the perfect start with a goal from Fiona Keating in the third minute a point from Anne Marie Collins a minute later had the Kinsale girls well settled. St Clares hit back witha vengeance and knocked three goals in a devastating 5 minute spell from Amy Frawley the irresistible Devaney and midfielder Rachel Conlon.

Keating was dangerous for Kinsale but she was fouled when she got near goal and Faye Ahern knocked over the resulting frees to keep Kinsale in touch. St Clares hit the Cork with a three goal blitz in a two minute spell midway through the half with the scores coming two from Devaney and one from Frawley,

Kinsale hit back with goals from Ahern and Keating with both teams converting their frees . Ahern shooting five points from frees for Kinsale and Devaney proving equally adept for St Clares converting four frees into points,  Devaney would have the last say of the half with a goal from the penalty spot in injury time with Kinsale captain ending in the sin bin.                                                                                            The half time score was St Clares 8-04 to Kinsale CS 3-07.

Kinsale came out fighting in the second half with points from Ahern and Keating saw a great goal effort slide just wide , Devaney struck again for goal and Ahern finished a quick free to the net. Kinsale were finding it hard to break down the Leitrim girls defence  while St Clare`s captain Emma Mc Loughlin got in on the scoring hitting a goal and two points.

Hannah Johnson was sin binned for a foul on Keating but were unable to take advantage of the numerical advantage ,Devanney then scored the best goal of the day picking up the ball around midfield and soloing right through the Kinsale defence and finished to the net for her sixth goal , Amy Fawley hit her fourth goal to seal a well deserved win for the Manorhamilton girls.

The Kinsale girls tried hard to the very end with good performances from  Orlagh O’ Mahony              RoseMaire Buckley  Grace O’ Reilly and the afore mentioned   Anne Marie Collins  Fiona Keating  Faye Ahern who shot 2-08 and Kinsale finished with an impressive  4 – 11 which would have won most games but not today as not even the scoreboard could not keep up with the goal power of the Leitrim girls who shot a dozen goals and 10 points while the scoreboard read  9-19 at the end.
