Football was played un-officially in Kerry during the years 1970 to 1973 with clubs taking part in carnival tournaments etc, just for fun. Towards the end of the 1973 during a carnival week in Banteer, Co Cork, Kerry and Cork were invited to play for a set of trophies. Mick Fitzgerald who was involved with the Kerry camogie team at the time and a Scotsman by the name of Alex Rintoul selected the Kerry Ladies football team to play Cork. Download History (.pdf)
