Coaching Partnership for Tipperary

Tipperary Ladies Football in conjunction with Limerick
Institute of Technology/Setanta College strength and conditioning course are
delighted to announce a new coaching initiative which will benefit Primary and
Post Primary Schools in the Thurles area.  The two bodies have come together with the
assistance of Munster Ladies Football and developed a special coaching
programme which will be delivered within the school environment to assist girls
to improve their skills in Ladies Football.

Strength and Conditioning has become an integral part of
training regimes for many sports teams and athletes and this programme will
further develop Ladies Football in the county. Educational courses have added
to the professional development of S&C coaching and training. Limerick
Institute of Technology (LIT) along with their educational partners Setanta
College provide specific strength and conditioning courses using up to date
methodologies and technological advances associated with S&C training.
Second year students from the strength and conditioning course will combine
their knowledge and expertise of strength and conditioning coaching while also
promoting the skills and benefits of Ladies Football. From March 3rd
LIT Setanta college’s strength and conditioning students will deliver the
coaching in the schools in Thurles for a six week period.

Speaking about the launch of the Coaching Initiative, Mr.
Tommie Campbell, Chairperson Tipperary Ladies Football Association said “We are
looking forward to working with Limerick Institute of Technology/Setanta College
strength and conditioning course and the schools in Thurles and hope this
initiative will continue for a number of years.
This coaching will benefit all parties involved and will help to promote
Ladies Football within our County.”
