Cahir edged out The Banner in a cracking Munster LGFA Senior QF

Ladies Munster Senior Club Championship 1/4 Final Banner 4-15 Cahir 4-16 Result after extra time                                                            In an incredible display of football.

Chair had the better start to this game hitting 4 points to lead by 2 after 5 minutes, a Niamh O Dea goal sparked the Banner into life and four points left them leading 1-6 to 0-5 at the water break.

After the break Aisling McCarthy  finished to the net for Cahir following a great solo run, the Banner hit back immediately with a goal from Niamh O Dea from a tight angle.

Cahir then hit a purple patch with points from Rosanne Kiely and a brace from Aisling Maloney  ,she had a goal disallowed for square ball this but did not deter the Tipp girls with Roisin Howard finishing a great team move with a goal to leave the half time score Cahir 2-9 The Banner 2-8.

The Banner had the better of the third quarter with captain Grainne Nolan hitting a goal and a point and Niamh O Dea hit over two points with Cahir only registering a single point.

After the final water break two Aisling McCarthy points closed the gap for Cahir but they went down to 14 players when Roisin Howard was sin binned. Grainne Nolan struck over another point and Laurie Ryan soloed through from mid field to hit a great point to put 4 points between the teams with 5 minutes remaining . The Banner tried to retain possession but with time running out Cahir got the ball backed and worked it up the field were Aisling left fly a shot from 30 meters to rifle a shot to the top corner for a goal that would be a wordy contender for goal of the season. The banner tried to work the ball out of defense but lost it Rosin Horward just back from the sin picked up the loose ball and was fouled ,Aisling McCarthy cooly slotted the free to level the game in what proved to be the final action and force extra time with the teams level 3-13 a piece.

The first half of injury time was all  Cahir with Aisling Maloney hitting a point from a 45 McCarthy had another point and then Niamh Costigan struck for a goal and finished the half with a point from Rosanne Kiely The Banner  sole response was a point from Grainne Nolan and The Banner looked dead and buried at the break down 5 points.

There was one more twist to this game with Cahir failing to register a score in the final half The Banner worked the ball up field and found Grainne Nolan free on the edge of the square where she cooly slotted home a goal a point from Nolan left the minimum between the teams. The Banner were pressing forward and when they were awarded a free out near the sideline late in the game they worked the ball into the middle and shot towards the  goals unfortunately for The Banner the ball shaved the outside of the posts, the Refree Seamus Mulvihill blew the final whistle on the Kickout  to leave Cahir the winners 4-16 to 4-15 and a semi final date with reighining All Ireland Club champions Mourneabbey
