Alan’s Sports Extravaganza #LiveLifeGiveLife

A new website has been launched to help create much needed awareness of organ donation and in the memory of the late Alan Feeley. Alan was a teacher in Doon Post Primary in Limerick and was a prominent member of MLGFA at Post Primary level.

We are delighted to lend our help and support to www.alanfeeley.com and ask all members to
take some time to check it out as well as the video of Kerry’s Louise Galvin
which has been updated on the front page.

What is the aim of the
event?

There are three aims to “Alan’s Sports
Extravaganza”: to raise awareness for organ donation; promote physical
activity and commemorate our good friend Alan Feeley. There are currently over
650 people in Ireland awaiting life saving organ transplants including heart,
lung, liver, kidney and pancreas. A single donor can give the greatest gift of
all to up to NINE people, in their greatest hour of need, just as Alan did. For
Alan’s family and friends, whilst bereft of our loved one, we are comforted by
the fact that Alan’s greatness lives on through his donors.

Whats going on?

The fantastic, unrivalled facilities in UL’s North Campus
will host “Alan’s Sports Extravaganza”. On the day, there will be a
tag rugby tournament, an exhibition sevens football match between Claremorris
GAA Vs Old Crescent RFC, an array of fitness and exercise classes, and fun
interactive physical activities for all shapes and sizes. Participation by all,
young and old, is strongly encouraged!

The IKA will be present with information on organ donation,
including how to sign up as an organ donor.

Who is the event
aimed at?

Everyone! Alan was a keen sportsman, and placed a strong
emphasis on keeping fit. As a PE teacher, and in his personal life, he was
extremely passionate about promoting the benefits of physical activity.

So just show up with your shorts and runners ready to join
in the fun!

How much does it
cost?

Tag teams (up to 15 players) will incur a registration fee.
Avail of an “Early Bird” offer of 300 euro by registering in full by
May 1st, which works out at only 20 euro a player.

Non-tag rugby players are thoroughly encouraged to attend,
bring their friends and family, and enjoy the various free interactive physical
activities and classes on offer throughout the day.

Hope to see you all on the Saturday 2nd August 2014 at 11:00.
