TESCO Homegrown looking for Club Person of the Year

The 2014 TESCO Homegrown Club Person of the Year award is
now up and running and accepting nominations for the four provincial awards.
This very special award recognises the contribution of volunteers at all levels
of the sport to their clubs. These volunteers are vital to continued growth of
ladies football at grassroots level in communities throughout the country.

There are five TESCO Homegrown Club Person of the Year
awards, one for each of the four provinces with one of those provincial winners
selected as the overall winner. Every club in the country has already received
a nomination form and are invited to return the form with the details of their
nominee by the closing date of Friday, January 24th, 2014. If further details
are required they can be obtained at www.ladiesgaelic.ie

Last year’s awards saw Catherine Ring named as the Munster
Club Person of the Year, Paddy Madine claimed the Ulster Club Person award and
Yeonette O’Rourke was selected as the Connacht Club Person of the Year. The
Leinster award was shared by Michael and Kathleen Colreavy from Naomh Mearnóg
who also went on to share the overall title of TESCO Homegrown Club Persons of
the Year.

Speaking about the TESCO Homegrown Club Person of the Year
Awards LGFA President, Pat Quill said ‘This is a fantastic competition that
puts the focus on the great work done by volunteers and administrators
throughout the country. It is fair to say that much of the focus in our sport
goes onto what happens on the field of play but without the tireless work of these
great people behind the scenes there would not be a game. Last year the calibre
of our 4 award winners was phenomenal and I am sure that it will be no
different this year.’

Henry Dummer, Marketing Director of TESCO Ireland said
“TESCO is once again delighted to be involved in a celebration of the work that
goes on at grassroots level in Ladies Football
and quite often behind the scenes and away from the bright lights. The
stories of previous provincial and national winners have been truly inspiring
from club founders, to jersey washers, to PROs and grounds people. They are the
people that make our clubs tick and TESCO is delighted to acknowledge these
people and we look forward to celebrating their achievements in Croke Park
later in the year and to announcing the overall national winner. We wish all
the nominees the very best of luck.”
