Limerick have ability to escape Division

Despite the fact, the New Year is just a day old; the
National Football season is almost on top of us @barrydonal munsterlgfa.com
PRO
in the next few days will look at our six teams ahead of their campaigns
and give you the dates for your diary to support your team.

Munster has only one representative in Division 4, which is
made up with 6 teams with the top four making the play offs in which the
winners will reach the final that will be played on May 3rd

Manager Andrew Meaney has slowly being integrating many
young players into his squad ahead of the campaign and they have already been
hard at work prior to Christmas preparing their challenge to escape Division 4.
He has welcomed back experienced campaigners.

In 2012, they reached the Division 4 final and lost out to
Longford. Last season they found the going a little tougher with Antrim and
Roscommon both proving too tough to handle. Despite this they were the only
team to inflict a defeat on eventual winners Offaly.

This season hope springs from the fact that the treaty girls
have four of their five opening games at home something that supporters should
really take advantage of and it could well be the spur to get the team to the
semi-final stages.

They start with a real tester against Louth (having defeated
the “Wee county” by a point last season) and the following week Roscommon come
calling. Limerick will learn a lot about their season’s prospects after these
two games. A trip to Derry in Round three should be well within their radar and
with home games to come against Antrim and Wicklow the treaty girls should be
well capable of getting to the play offs for a start.

In their last few seasons Limerick have shown at times that
they are well capable of getting out of Division 4 but have failed to replicate
the consistency  that is needed to
collect points. Last season saw them defeat Offaly in devastating style before losing
out Roscommon in the Semi-Final stages rather tamely.

We wish them the best of Luck
