Ballymacarby and The Banner make it to the Senior B Club final

Waterford Club champions Ballymacarby proved the old adage correct that “goals win games” in this hard fought Munster B club semi-final played at Ballyhooley.

The kingpins of Waterford ladies football scored three consecutive goals in an eight-minute first half period to put the game in their control after Laune Rangers made all the early running as Patrice Dennehy had scored 0-3 of their 0-4 to 0-2 lead. A Linda Wall goal put the Waterford club into the lead before Dennehy rattled the net for the Kerry side to put them ahead again only to see Ballymac respond twice with two further goals from Wall and Ryan.

They went to the break ahead 3-3 to 1-7. An early second half burst by the Waterford club saw them stretch their lead to 3-6 to 1-9 before yet another goal on the 52nd six points. However, the Kerry champions dug deep to reduce the deficit to just 2 with 2 minutes remaining but it took too much out of them as Ballymac added on 3 late points to see them reach the final.

In the second semi-final, The Banner of Clare had too much for a game Cappawhite of Tipperary.

Having lead 1-7 to 1-1 at the break the Clare outfit saw out the match in comfortable fashion.

The Banner were in early control and lead 0-4 to 0-1 after 20 minute but a Clare Mullin goal gave the sides parity. The Banner moved up a gear and tagged on three unanswered points to give them a deserved six-point lead at the break. The second half was a more even affair but the Banner were never in real trouble and ran out 7-point winners.
