Kerry 2-18 Limerick 1-08
Much like the first game Kerry ran out deserving winners. At half time Kerry went in at the break fourteen points in front. Things started brightly for Limerick as they registered the first score of the afternoon. A free from Emma Robertson. Kerry would settle into this game quickly and dominated proceedings throughout the half. Nine unanswered points in a row saw them open up an eight-point lead midway through the half. Louise Ní Chiobháin, Jessie Lynch and Lily Riordan amongst the scorers. Limerick did respond with a brace of frees but in truth Kerry were in control as Limerick offered little in response. A goal late in the first half saw Kerry open up a commanding lead that only grew as the half came to a conclusion. Jessie Lynch with the final score in the half.
The second half allowed Kerry to run the bench and give the panel some game time ahead of the remainder Munster Championship games. As a result of all the changes it was a more disjointed performance. While the teams were evenly matched in the scoreboard in the second half it was too big a mountain for limerick to climb. Limerick were playing for pride and battled throughout the half. Kerry safe in the knowledge the game was won could afford to take the foot off the pedal. Bigger tests await Kerry in this championship and will look at today’s game as a stepping stone for the weeks ahead.
