The girl from the Gaeltacht village of Baile an Fheirtearaigh on the Dingle Peninsula completes a unique double as she won the young player award of the year in 2007. She was in devastating form for Kerry in their Munster campaign this season who won their first provincial crown in ten years to defeat eventual All Ireland champions Cork. A stand out highlight was her two goals against the rebels in the first round Munster game in
Cahirciveen. Her cross-field delivery to set up Kerryâs third goal was widely acclaimed as Kerry went on to win with the local radio likening it to a Maurice Fitzgerald special. High praise indeed. She continued this form to the Final where she contributed 0-6 to her teamâs total.
Ni Mhuircheartaigh was a forward on fire throughout the Kerry campaign this year and ended up with a personal haul of 10-55 including 0-6 in the Munster final win. Including a player of the game performance against Mayo where she scored 1-9. She is a past pupil of Pobal Scoil Chorca Dhuibhne she is currently a student in UCC.
Last season saw her pick up an All Star Award, claim an OâConnor cup medal for UCC (Their first title in 22 years) and reach the All Ireland final.
Despite winning Division 2 of the National League and winning the provincial crown, eventual winners Cork had 4 points to spare over Kerry in the All Ireland semi-final and blocked their path to the final this year.
She is nominated for an All Star Award this season.
She is also a talented handballer with many county and national titles at underage. Her brother Colm has played Kerry minor for the county.
