Mounthawk too strong for Skibbereen in Lidl Munster Jun C Final

Lidl Munster LGFA PPS Junior C Final  2022

Mercy Mounthawk  Tralee 5-11  Skibbereen CS  1-09   

 on Monday 7th March 11.30 in Cill na Matra Gaa  referee Hugh Kelleher

Skibbereen got off to a great start with 3 points in the first 5 minutes from Eabha O Donovan and Kate Carey

Mounthawk got into the game with 2 points but then on the 10 minute they hit 2 goals in a minute from Holly O Brien and Lisa Slattery.

Slattery added two pointed frees to lead at the water break 2-04 to 3 points .

Playing with the wind Skibberen got back into the game with some excellent points from Keelin Murphy and Elba O Donovan and Leah Carey,but unfortunatly this good was cancelled out by a goal from Katie Nix and Skibbereen were 5 points in arrears at the half time break 3-04 to 8 points.

Playing with the wind Mounthawk piled on the pressure and  another goal from Nix and points from Keelan Coffey ,O Brien and Slattery had them four goals clear at the final water break . Skibbereen rallied but could not break down the Mounthawk defence for that vital goal.

Katie Nix completed a hat trick of goals and two pointed frees from Slattery had them out of sight. Elba O Donovan struck a late free to the net but the Tralee girls were always in control and ran out winners 5-11 t0 1-08 .

Mounthawk play Gortnor Abbey Crossmilina in the Lidl All Ireland semi final next Saturday the 12th of march
