Mary Jo Curran to be honoured with Hall of Fame

Kerry’s Mary Jo Curran is to be given the hall of fame award at the upcoming 2013 TG4 Ladies Football All Star Awards, which will take place at the City West Hotel on November 9th.

Mary Jo Curran is a legend in her native Kingdom having won Ten All Ireland Medal and ten All Star awards in a playing career that went from minor in 1976 to getting her last senior medal in 1993.

Her performances at Centre Forward and Midfield for Kerry during their golden age between 1982 and 1993 were a major factor in helping Kerry to win 11 All Ireland titles including an unprecedented nine in a row.

Speaking about the awards, LGFA President Pat Quill said ‘I am delighted that Mary Jo Curran is this year’s recipient of the Hall of Fame Award, she is one of the best players that I have ever seen play and continues to be an inspiration to players in Kerry as a coach.

The Hall of Fame and Young Players of the Year Award will be presented at the 2013 TG4 All Star Awards at the Citywest Hotel on November 9th.
