Kerry Ladies to launch behind the scenes book


 The eventful year of Kerry senior ladies footballers will appear
in print and their story will be launched on December 6th at the
Killarney Plaza Hotel.

“Desperately Seeking Brendan” is a year in the life look at
the Kerry senior ladies football team on the trail of All Ireland glory in the
2013 championship. Covering all their games from the All-Ireland Final in 2012,
all through a league campaign that ended in success, capturing their memorable
Munster title win over holders Cork and ending with their heart breaking defeat
to Cork in the All Ireland semi-finals.

Written by freelance sports journalist Donal Barry, it gives
the reader a unique insight into the struggles of the ladies game that languishes
in the shadow of the men’s game.

The team also find themselves under the shadow of the great
Kerry team of the eighties that claimed nine in a row all Ireland titles, the
book deals with the rock bottom lows and some exciting highs as the team look
to bridge a gap of 20 years since they last won a title.

It is told from the prospective of players, managers,
spectators and officials as each month brings its own difficulties on and off
the field. Each challenge has to be faced and solutions have to be found.

The Senior Ladies team will be on hand to meet and greet as
well as display the Munster Senior and National League Cup that they won. It is
a great opportunity for people to meet first-hand the team behind the story.
All that will be missing is Brendan.

The book will be on general release after the launch.
